Make sure the mounting of the fifth wheel
to the tractor frame is tight and in good
condition.
If using a sliding fifth wheel, make sure the
slide locking plungers are fully engaged.

Chock the trailer wheels. Use two chocks
(both on the front and rear of the wheel) on
both sides of the trailer.

Back up close to the trailer, centering the
kingpin on the throat of the fifth wheel, and
STOP.
Note: For tractors with air ride suspension,
make sure the suspension control switch is in
the “RIDE” position (switch pushed in at the
top) and the air springs are inflated.
